Dishcloths to Sweaters

My mom taught me to knit and crochet at a young age, starting with dishcloths. I don't know if it's because I learned around Christmas, but knitting and crocheting has always been a winter hobby for me.

Over the years I started pushing myself to make things like scarves, hats and mittens, but it took me about 25 years to work up the courage to make my first sweater! I signed up to take a community-ed class from a friend of mine. The project was the Flax Sweater by Tin Can Knits.

Since it was my first sweater, my mom encouraged me to start with more affordable yarn in case I made mistakes. Like always, she was right! I used a non-pilling acrylic yarn and I'm happy I did. This sweater is by no means perfect, but I'm very proud of it and still wear it often!
